Curly is a stunning buckskin gelding with a huge heart and striking presence. His gorgeous head, big hip, and undeniable eye appeal make him unforgettable. Riders appreciate how he builds confidence in beginners while still offering the talent professionals expect. Since he has been with us from the time he was a yearling, his quiet, gentle demeanor has only deepened. The easygoing nature he carries means no drama, and he has long been one of Paje’s heart horses as well as a cousin to her well‑known black horse, Hammy.

Attention and companionship are things he genuinely enjoys, yet he is always ready to work when needed. Our nine‑year‑old niece often chooses him because of his gentle personality and his willingness to listen to her cues. His movement is smooth, his transitions are easy, and his usability stands out. Short‑legged riders cue him comfortably. Furthermore, he lopes nicely, offers a sit‑able trot, and guides willingly whether the rider prefers a tighter or loose rein.

Curly performs well both in and out of the arena. He handles trails respectfully, works confidently on the ranch, and shines as a heel and breakaway horse while also being a nice head horse. Breanna Jenkins showed him at this year’s Royal Crown, reaching the breakaway short round and earning three credits. His ability in roping and ranch work continues to impress, especially in sorting, doctoring, gathering, and branding.

Reliable, Seasoned, and Trail‑Proven

Growing up between Montana’s mountains and the deserts of Arizona has made Curly reliable and sure‑footed in a wide range of terrain. Water crossings, steep hillsides, bridges, and logs are handled with confidence. He remains unfazed by bikes, tarps, equipment, buffalo, or dogs. Overnight pack trips and fall hunts have further seasoned him, and he pickets, hobbles, and ground‑ties without issue. Moreover, he is the kind of horse you can ride down the trail and eat your lunch on. Time off does not change his ride, and he mounts curbside, hauls well, and maintains excellent ground manners. His friendly, people‑loving nature means he meets you at the gate, ready for the day.

Versatile, Talented, and Ranch‑Ready

Curly transitions easily between ranch tasks and arena work. His willingness and athleticism make him dependable for roping, sorting, and daily ranch duties. He adapts to different riders and situations with ease, which adds to his value in any program. His versatility allows him to shine in multiple roles without losing his calm, steady demeanor.

Gentle, Social, and Easy to Live With

Pasture life is easy for him, and he keeps quietly among other horses. He hauls calmly and behaves well in every environment. His steady nature and kind personality make him a horse that quickly becomes part of the family. Each ride feels enjoyable, and he leaves a lasting impression on everyone who spends time with him.
