We are pleased to announce Guns has made the cut and has been one of the top 50 horses who will sell December 9, 2026 in Las Vegas at the Riata Buckle Horse Sale at Southpoint Casino.

We have raised this unique, good-looking gelding since he was a yearling and have brought him along the right way. Goes by the handle “Guns.” Now 4 years old, he has the talent, mind, athleticism, and natural cow sense to become a standout rope and performance horse at the Riata Buckle and other rope horse futurities!

Having started Guns in the cow horse, he quickly showed a natural ability to read and rate a cow, stay collected, and stop hard. While he could have easily gone on as a cow horse futurity prospect, his true potential has really shined in the rope horse arena. He has been in the best hands in all arenas! Most importantly, Time off does not affect his kind, quiet disposition. He is quick-footed (yet forgiving to miscues), talented, and naturally strong on both ends, making him an exceptional prospect for next year’s 5-year-old rope horse futurities.

He has been developed on a solid foundation, confidently switches from heading to heeling, and is also a sharp breakaway horse. On the head side, he is flat out of the box, hunts the cow at a natural rate, has plenty of speed, stands up in the corner with a solid move, and has a very showy face. On the heel side, he lets you see feet throughout the run, in position, and stands up until you deliver with a square stop and is strong from the horn.

This gelding will continue to be hauled to ropings leading up to the sale and should be a strong contender for 5-year-old futurities in either the Open or Non-Pro. Whether you are looking for a serious futurity prospect, a versatile switch-end rope horse, or a talented young horse with a bright long-term career ahead, he deserves a hard look. He is very capable and has the demeanor of handling a first-time or novice roper.

Showing his versatility, he lopes beautiful, collected circles, willingly guides, spins, and slides! He has a lot of eye appeal with a cow in front of him or taking one down the fence. He is smooth to ride and has a cool, collected job or a big trot for the ranch classes or the real ranch.

He is more than just an arena horse, and was raised in the mountains and pasture. He has been used extensively on the ranch to gather, sort, doctor, brand, and cover country. Has been used for hunting-season guiding and for packing; crosses all water and obstacles.

Gentle, kind, and easy to be around, he has an old-soul mind that is rare in a horse this young. He is quiet and patient enough for a novice or older rider to enjoy on the ranch or trail, yet talented enough for a competitive rider to take and win on.

He has been brought along with patience, not rushed or forced. Guns likes his job, and we are certain he will take to many avenues with great success! He is soft, willing, and exceptionally minded—a talented young gelding with the disposition and versatility everyone is looking for.
