The close partnership we all strive to achieve with our horses is made instantly with “Swain.” he wants to be your buddy & partner. The best babysitter & coach, he has a way of making you feel confident in any situation with his tranquil, forgiving demeanor. He is one gelding we have tortured ourselves over on keeping in our program & part of the TPH team; it’s been a difficult decision to let him go. Swain has been headed, heeled, and breakaway, and hauled to major ropings & rodeos. He will take care of a #3, yet the #7 headers say Swain is the most honest head/heel horse ever.

He is hauled by several different numbered ropers here at TPH in the heading from the 12.5 to the 9.5 ropings. He is rock solid in the box, leaves flat and smooth, and runs to the cow. He has zero duck, an excellent move across the arena, and a snappy face. He has the patience, reliability, and resume to take on a novice roper and move them up the ranks.

Swain has all the talent & ability to be successful in the show pen, in the Ranch Versatility, Ranch Riding, & Cow-horse events. He performs all the reining/cowhorse maneuvers with a collected lope and excellent turnaround. Swain is a ligament cow horse who knows how to handle a cow across the pasture, sorting, taking one down the fence, or running one across the pen. Looking for that confidence builder out on the trails, Swain is just that! The VERY BEST Trail and Ranch Horse has seen all types of terrain, from the mountains & rivers of Montana to the deserts and rocky terrain of Arizona. Any ranch foreman would love to swing a leg over him; so smooth makes a day in the saddle like driving a Cadillac. He stands quietly to mount, dismount & will ground tie where you leave him. We have turned him out for a month and felt safe about saddling and roping a few steers on a cold Montana morning. He will meet you at the pasture gate, ready to take on the day! He is good with traffic, loud gunfire, blowing tarps, dogs all around him, and wildlife. Great with other horses in turn out and trailering, quiet to groom, and for the farrier.
