Horse Description

If we had to name a CEO (Champion-Equine-Overachiever) in the barn, it would be our Oliver. He could easily have gone by the handle “steady Eddy.” A gorgeous ruby red gelding with a handsome head, perfect blaze, a set of pretty socks, and big brown eyes that will just melt your heart. Built solid, like one should be, as our tallest horse in the offering, he has flawless conformation, a huge hip with a lot of bone, and good-sized hooves. He is such an exceptional horse, extremely mature and loaded with talent.

Anything you want to do horseback, Oliver is game. If we ask him to jump, he would say, “Okay, how high.” By the way, he enjoys jumping and looks terrific in English attire. A genuine, rocking chair lope- S M O O T H. It is one of the prettiest and smoothest movers and feels like he is floating in the air. He is as honest as the day is long and a willing, kind, and gentle individual for the entire family. Ridden by a variety of riders, everyone who has saddled him up always comes home with a smile on their face. He has seen everything from weaving through traffic downtown to the sights and sounds of a rodeo on the fourth of July.

If you want to win in the ranch riding classes, just enter and go. He will grab the judge’s attention. The definition of point-and-go is Oliver; no trail too challenging, no bog too deep, no mountain too high, and no water crossing he hasn’t crossed. What Oliver won’t do is get you into a “rocky” situation out on the trails- he is CAREFUL! He has lived in the mountains on pack trips, slept under the stars, and watched marshmallows roast at the fire. Oliver has been packed, hobbled, and picketed. He has seen grizzly bears, mountain lions, Moose, and Elk. Our go-to guy – we can saddle or jump on bareback and ride into the sunset! Being taller, he is trained to use curbside mount to make getting on more accessible. Oliver has experienced the fun of flying a kite, working with cow-dogs, and riding with you on your bike.

Are you looking to gather and sort cattle for hours on end? That’s no problem; Oliver is as comfortable as your favorite recliner. He has a great neck rein and maneuverability stays between your legs, side passes, and opens and closes gates. Proven to be a one-of-a-kind outstanding money-winning head horse, he is easy to ride and suitable for a lower number roper but will step it up, if need be, for the higher number roper. He is good in the box, can flat run and rate, works off his hock, and has a smooth, snappy face. Working cow-horse trained, Oliver has a lot of eye appeal and is fancy broke with an excellent turnaround and stop; he is soft to ride and confidently takes a cow or buffalo down the fence!
He will always let you walk out to catch him, has quiet ground manners, gets along with other horses, and stalls quietly. Oliver has a heart and try the size of Montana and turns heads wherever he goes. He’s a stand-out individual who will take you to the pay window and the best partner on the ranch and trails. Call us to schedule a time to try him for yourself; you will instantly fall in love with him at 406-381-2347. He passed all sales and veterinary standards with flying colors. When tackling a challenging trail, Oliver is our top choice. He navigates with ease and grace, making the journey smooth and steady!
