We are pleased to exclusively sell Pistol March 16th at The Horse Sale at Rancho Rio in Wickenburg, Arizona!

SHAPEY Head Horse & HANDSOME are the first words that come to mind about this fancy redhead with chrome that we call “Pistol.” We have had Pistol in our program for a couple of years now, and his versatility in and out of the arena and his good-guy nature have made it hard for us here at TPH to let him go. As the son of the late great stallion Dual Smart Rey (the EquiStat Elite 13 Million Dollar Sire and earner of $330,436 who left a lasting impact on the cutting and reined cow horse industry), his natural instinct on a cow is well apparent in the cutting, roping, and sorting pen. Pistol is a money-winning & easy to rope on Head Horse- with natural rate, all the run you need, fancy move across the pen with a snappy face. He steadys Eddie in the box and is great with the World Series and the traditional barriers. A true “Typey” headhorse, one that everyone is looking for!! He is fully paid into the Royal Crown Roping Futurity and was shown and made short round in the 2025 futurity. 

He rides bareback, mounts easily from block, rock, or curb, and is well-trained! He glides across the pen, with a fancy handle, lead change, lift of a finger one-handed rein, & the minute you say “whoa,” he gives you a nice deep stop.

Pistol has all the talent & ability to be successful in the show pen, in the Ranch Versatility, Ranch Riding, & Cow-horse events. He is a ligament cow horse and knows how to handle a cow across the pasture, sorting, taking one down the fence, or running one across the pen. The VERY BEST Trail and Ranch Horse has seen all types of terrain, from packing and camping in the mountains of Montana, where he has been hobbled and has pickets, to Arizona’s deserts and rocky terrain.  Any ranch foreman would love to swing a leg over him, so smooth makes a day in the saddle like driving a Cadillac. He stands quietly to mount and dismount. Turn Pistol out for months; he will saddle up & ride off like he was ridden the day before. SALE HIGHLIGHT for sure!
