The only one like him; Licorice is a once-in-a-lifetime gelding. Stout and feather footed, with a great wither to hold your saddle, and is comfortable to sit for a many-o-mile trail ride. A jet-black, handsome Registered Quarter Horse/Gypsy cross gelding. He makes friends wherever he goes, and if there is one that forgets he is a 1200lb horse and does not belong in the house, it is Licorice. He does have excellent ground manners and is a confidence booster for beginners and anyone looking to have that perfect horse.

He has been in our family for years and is one you can depend immensely on in and out of the arena. Fancy type handle, he will lope in the palm of your hand with an incredible neck rein, moves off your leg, side passes, and has a smooth jog and extended trot. Would clean up in the Ranch Versatility classes at the open shows and your kid’s 4H events, Ranch Trail, Ranch Riding, English, Ranch Roping, and Ranch Cutting. Plus, when you’re done riding for the day, you’ll have a trustworthy buddy who will let you tote him anywhere.

A solid and very safe been-there-done-that type of gelding, he has seen and visited various environments from the streets of downtown to the mountains of Montana and the desert of Arizona to breaking in roping steers in New Mexico. He has been ridden in the backcountry through the winding game trails on hunting trips. He will pack, hobble, picket, and has been exposed to many big games.

Licorice is also a fun head and heel horse, has a natural rate and cow, and is strong from the horn. Believe it or not, Licorice is very cowy and is quiet trailing the herd to another section solo. He is always available to lend a hand on the ranch, proving to be quite an asset, doctoring, sorting pairs, moving herds from one pasture to the next, branding, opening, and closing the gates. He is trained to curbside mount from anywhere! He’s flown a kite, walked through fire, and isn’t fazed by ATVs, bikes, equipment, working dogs, flags, and drones flying overhead. Saddle or no saddle or bridle, for that matter, he rides off the same every time, even with a lengthy time off.

One of the surest footed and smoothest traveling horses. Never ever worry about him tripping or slipping. Licorice loves the trails; he leads the string, falls to the rear, or goes out alone. He has crossed and seen a multitude of obstacles, water, falling timber, and bridges. He is ready to climb one mountain to see what is on the other side.
